February at Maitri Farm
February normally is a month of dark days and dreaming of summer blooms, but this year we have a pack house full of tulips forcing in crates growing tall for Valentines Day. These blooms are fueling our craving for color and joy when the days are cold and short.
This year we are offering a limited amount of pre-sale Valentines Tulip bouquets. Each bouquet is a mix of specialty tulips thoughtfully curated by Alisa, wrapped in kraft and tissue paper with ribbon. Buy yours now and share the gift of local fresh flowers for you or your lover.
We are happy to say that our overwintered Ranunculus & Anemones survived the arctic freeze we just had. These plants are already about 6” tall and these days need constant supervision. This is a tedious task that involves protecting these plants with row cover whenever the temperatures dip below 27 degrees and uncovering when it rises about 28 (as seen below with trusty farm friend, Nora)
Join our Team!
Maitri Farm has two job openings for the 2024 growing season. We are seeking people who want to learn and engage with the ins and outs of running a small scale organic vegetable and cut flower farm and work alongside us for the 2024 season and hopefully beyond.
While the farm property is large, we practice small-scale, high production farming, which means that we rely on our bodies a lot, and the work that we do is often repetitive and strenuous.
Previous experience working on a farm for a full season is strongly preferred. Because our space is small, we hope to work closely with folks who want to collaborate, communicate and have fun growing food and flowers for the community. Learn more at our website
