June Expansion

We have exciting new additions to the farm store this month in the form of our first harvests of the first of our incredibly lush peonies. These beauties are coveted and go quickly so be sure to stop  by early and grab your bouquet this week. In addition, we will continue to have more beautiful mixed bouquets specially arranged by our team.

In spite of the weather’s best efforts to drag weird spring weather out waaay too late, the Summer Veggie CSA program is getting ready to kick off and will begin the week of June 9th. Be sure to watch your email for a notice from Farmer Jenn about start up and pick up days. Limited shares for our Summer and Fall CSA are available on our website for weekly pickup, as well as our new Combo CSA - five glorious weeks of summer flowers and veggies.

Cody and Logan haven’t been letting the indecisive weather slow their tractor work: field preparations are in full swing with planting well underway. Our irrigation supplies were delivered yesterday and by the end of the month we should have all of our fields planted out with flowers and veggies or cover crops.  Early starts - 6 AM! -  and long work days are the norm now, but the energy and anticipation for the growing season is high. June is the height of our rush to get crops out into the fields.

Next time you’re around, be sure to welcome our newest crew member, Kyle, who has joined the team this season with lots of questions and the desire to build his own market farm in the future. We are excited to be part of his farming experience. We are also welcoming back Bonnita, who was a key part of our field crew last season. Her patience and steady hands are a welcome asset to the team and we are thankful that she liked us well enough  last year to return for another season.

The farm's lushness is not solely from the crops we tend but also from the incredible natural resources our little corner of this valley provides. Some of the crew have found perfect opportunities for camping and playing in the creek during their off hours and it makes me so happy to see them taking full advantage of the beautiful surroundings. Later in the season we will have opportunities and events on the farm that will be open to the public and our farm supporters. Be sure to watch the calendar on our website for more information on those events as we get closer to them.

As the month progresses and more veggie crops become ready, there will be many more chances to explore and experience the farm. We already have our first tiny fruit set on some of the tomatoes planted in the Tomato Tunnel and tickets to our second Tomato Workshop in our series of three is available for purchase on our website.
